Novaquark‘s ambitious sci-fi MMO Dual Universe is now in public Pre-Alpha stage. Crowdfunding backers who pledged at Gold Founder level (€100-120) or above will be able to participate in this stage of development, playing an early version of the game and interacting with its creators.
Dual Universe caught gamers’ attention with its Kickstarter campaign, which offered a tantalizing view of a next generation MMO experience where everything is editable and no place is too far away.
Following up our recent global $7.4M mark in fundraising, this public Pre-Alpha milestone is very important to us and our community. Our proprietary CSSC (Continuous Single-Shard Cluster) and voxel engine technologies are now benchmarked for the first time with real players and not just bots.
It is truly amazing to think that when you see a moon in the sky, it’s actually there, you can fly to it with a proper spaceship. And you could carve out half of it, given enough time, as the world is entirely editable. Everyone will see it. This kind of giant continuous world experience has never been seen before in gaming. We can’t wait to see what people are going to build over the next weeks.
Jean-Christophe Baillie, CEO at Novaquark.
Dual Universe aims to build a virtual online civilization, using a proprietary technology called CSSC (Continuous Single-Shard Cluster) which will allow the creation of a single universe that could potentially house millions of people interacting in it at the same time. A complex multi-scale voxel engine takes those interactions even further, letting players modify the world as they see fit.
