Godfall Gets Ray Tracing but Only on AMD GPUs for Now

Counterplay Games have just released an update for the PC version of Godfall, adding ray tracing support… but only on AMD GPUs (the patch notes mention “applicable AMD GPUs” so this refers to the Radeon RX 6800 and 6800 XT graphics cards that launched today). Support for Nvidia’s RTX lineup will come at a later date.

This isn’t a completely unheard of move (after all, there are a few games that support RT only on Nvidia GPUs as of today, since they were built with their proprietary RTX tech) but it’s somewhat weird, considering Nvidia’s RTX cards have been out for longer, and there’s probably a lot more people with one of them inside of their system than people with a GPU that has literally just launched today.

Patch notes below:

Godfall Quick Update – 2.0.95

This quick update, 2.0.95 is just for PC and enables the ability for players to play Godfall with ray tracing on while using applicable AMD GPUs. Note: players will need to have the latest AMD GPU drivers to enable this. Ray tracing using NVIDIA GPUs will come with a future update.

Check your version number on the bottom left of the Title Screen or in the Network tab in the Settings to make sure that you have the most recent update for your platform.

DEPLOYMENT STATUS:
