Publisher Removes Denuvo from 2Dark

Bigben Interactive has just released a patch for their recently released stealth horror adventure 2Dark, removing Sony DADC Austria AG’s Denuvo anti-tamper tech. The publisher released a statement, saying that they removed the much-maligned tech after “recent events” came to light (the game’s protection was cracked last week) and because the community’s reaction to the publisher choosing to protect their game with Denuvo was incredibly negative.

2Dark DRM removal

Hello everyone,

Based on recent events and the sheer amount of community feedback we received regarding 2Dark’s use of Denuvo, we have now taken the decision to remove Denuvo from 2Dark.

At the time of this message, we have released a small update to the game which removes Denuvo, allowing you to play Denuvo-free.

We want to thank all of you who provided your feedback.

If you have more to add on the topic, please reply here.

This removal should appease the Steam community and forbid pirates from using the popular “I pirate games because I don’t support the use of DRM” excuse, since the game is now DRM-free.
