The Other 99 Gets Brand New Trailer, Big Update

Burning Arrow released a new trailer showcasing the backstory of their open world survival horror title The Other 99, which has been recently updated in order to address performance and balance issues. The game has been out on Steam’s Early Access program since August of last year, and the developers have been issuing monthly content updates without missing a beat so far.

The Other 99 is a single player, first-person, action-survival game. Ripped from your ordinary life you awaken on a desolate Hebridian island with nothing but a single note that reads, “The only way off the island is through The Other 99”

Described as a British Battle Royal, Lost meets Fight Club and digital Lord of the Flies.
The Other 99 is a game of mystery, exploration, brutal combat, stealthing mechanics and problem solving. But be careful: Permadeath is included!

Patch notes:

  • New Starting Area.
  • Massively reworked Balancing.
  • Better interaction for survival with the world (e.g. now you can drink water from rivers, etc..).
  • Rework of the Survival Guide (Hunger & Thirst related).
  • Overhauled the island with new props populating the environment.
  • Rework of the combat.

The Steam store page for The Other 99 includes a roadmap for future additions and improvements to existing systems, something that I wish other Early Access titles did as well, since it lets consumers know whether the development team in charge of the project has a clear idea for the future of their game or not. According to the F.A.Q. present in the same store page, major updates will coincide with price increases, so gamers interested in acquiring The Other 99 may want to consider picking it up sooner rather than later (it costs US$ 14.99 right now)
