Updated: NieR: Automata Coming to PC in 2017, no Firm Date

Update 2: Looks like the previous update wasn’t correct, as another Square Enix representative reached out to us to clarify that the PC version of NieR: Automata doesn’t have a firm release date on PC (so, we are back at square one)

Update: A Square Enix representative reached out to us and confirmed that NieR: Automata will be out on PC on March 7, 2017, on the same day as the PlayStation 4 version.

Original story follows:

Square Enix announced this week that the PlayStation 4 version of NieR: Automata will be released on March 7, 2017, but the announcement doesn’t state the same release date for the PC version, listing an ambiguous “2017” release window instead. We’ve reached out to Square Enix for a confirmation on this news, but right now it seems that PC gamers will not be able to enjoy the game on the same day as people who decide to play the action RPG title on Sony’s console.

NieR: Automata will be available for the PlayStation®4 system on March 7, 2017 in North America for $59.99 and Steam® in 2017. The “Black Box Edition” is available for pre-order exclusively through the Square Enix Online Store for $189.99. The Day One Edition is available for pre-order at all participating retailers.

Hopefully the announcement is vague only because Sony has been heavily involved in the marketing campaign, or if there is a real delay, it will not be a matter of months, but just weeks or even days.
