Epic Games Boss Says Competing Stores “Fleece” Developers

The saga of the Epic Games Store started last year, but there’s already so much rarified air around it that I could swear this has been going on for far longer. Today’s chapter comes courtesy of Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, who seems to be on a bit of Twitter mood, as he tweeted less than an hour ago that stores that aren’t the Epic Games Store are “fleecing” game developers who choose to do business with them.

While Mr. Sweeney didn’t name any stores, the context would indicate that he’s talking about Steam and GOG, both of which have ardent supporters who are none too pleased with Epic Games‘ recent actions, such as the purchase of PC digital storefront exclusivity for the long-anticipated third entry in the Shenmue franchise.
